The Store is Up

I solved my issues with the Amazon store by designing my own theme. ha. Take that! I had found some really cute WordPress themes, but I’m a novice and don’t know how to edit them to make them do what I want. So, I did my own. Perhaps not as artistic as I would like, but everything is working and that makes me happy.

So shop your heart out. I have books, gifts, and food…all my favorite things!

Amazon store?

It is amazing how much time I can spend trying to figure out how to do things. I want to include an amazon store, but I’m having a heck of a time getting the code to work. I will beat this thing, I know it. But I should probably get back to my client work now (you know, the stuff I actually get paid to do).

I suspect what I’ll end up doing is figuring out how to add a new template to this design so I can have my whole amazon store on the site rather than just a few products. we’ll see. It’s very vexing.

I am (almost) a Web Goddess

Success! I’ve managed to transfer all of my blog posts (4 years worth) over to my new WordPress site. I’m very excited about this. Now I’m exploring different plugins for this pages. Why? Because I have some paid client work to do that I’d rather avoid. By poking around with WordPress’s features, I can avoid doing that :)

Actually, my plans are bigger. My design company specializes in print for large companies. Yet, I have many small business owners (mostly friends) asking me to help with their web sites all the time. I’ve now done several WordPress sites, learning tons each time. I’m going to start offering web design and development services to small businesses under the name of Rosebud Communications so that I can start saying Yes to my friends. It’s going to be fun!

New Vension Web Site

You may recall that back in September I was all happy about my venison cooking site. Well, I became unhappy with it pretty fast. It turns out, I was having a hard time actually keeping it up-to-date. I should have used WordPress to begin with. So, I switched over. Now I’ve got a new site and I’m busily uploading all of my recipes to it. I’m much happier with it, although Rick is quick to point out that I’m never really happy with my web sites. Yes, this is my new hobby—designing web sites. It’s a lot of fun. Check out the new venison site.

Great Venison Cooking is live!

I feel so accomplished! My cooking web site is live. I’m soliciting recipes for my cookbook, so if you have some venison recipes…or anything yummy using lamb or beef…upload it here.

I’m going to draw 10 names of people who submit recipes and give them a cookbook when it’s published.

Mostly I feel accomplished because I taught myself how to use joomla and joomla extensions to build the site. Not easy (not hard as web development goes, but not easy for a novice). If a real web developer designed the site, it’d look much prettier. But I’m happy with it. Check it out and let me know what you think!
